Traditional Turkish Bath

Dinner, drinks and a full stage in a cave restaurant.

Steam Inside the Rock

This is a reserved session at a hammam cut into the Cappadocia rock, with a full kese scrub, an olive-oil soap massage, towels and hotel transfers included. The visit takes about 90 minutes and costs €60 per person.

A hammam inside a cave is not a marketing device — the rock holds heat far better than a modern building, and the domed ceiling with its star-shaped light holes is the same design Ottoman bathhouses used for four centuries. The sequence has not changed: heat, scrub, rinse, rest.

About This Experience

A hammam inside a cave is not a marketing device — the rock holds heat far better than a modern building, and the domed ceiling with its star-shaped light holes is the same design Ottoman bathhouses used for four centuries. The sequence has not changed: heat, scrub, rinse, rest.

The visit suits travellers who have just come off a balloon flight at dawn or a day of walking the valleys, and anyone who wants the real ritual rather than a hotel spa. It is entirely indoors and heated, which makes it the best bad-weather option in the region.

When To Go

A hammam is entirely indoor and heated, so it works in every month — and it is at its best in winter, when the steam and the hot marble are a relief after a cold morning in the valleys. July and August are still fine; book late afternoon rather than midday. In Cappadocia the practical pairing is a dawn balloon flight followed by a late-morning bath, which is when most guests book it. Friday afternoons are the busiest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the bath mixed or single-sex?

Single-sex, with same-gender attendants throughout. Couples who want to stay together should book a private family section, which we arrange on request at a supplement.

What should I bring?

Nothing. Towels, the pestemal wrap and slippers are provided, as are lockers. Bring a swimsuit only if you prefer to wear one under the wrap.

How long does the visit take?

Around 90 minutes: 20 minutes in the steam room, 20 for the scrub and massage, and the rest resting in the cool room with tea. Transfers add 15 minutes each way in Cappadocia.

Is it suitable for children or elderly guests?

Children over 12 and most elderly guests manage it well. The heat is intense for anyone with low blood pressure, heart conditions or pregnancy — tell us at booking and we arrange a shorter, cooler session.

Can we do this after the balloon flight?

Yes, and it is the most common booking. The balloon lands around 06:30 and the bath opens at 09:00 — a late-morning slot after breakfast is the natural pairing.
