Helicopter Tour Istanbul

Twenty-five minutes over two continents.

Twenty-Five Minutes, Two Continents

This is a private 25-minute helicopter flight over Istanbul with a certified commercial pilot, covering the Bosphorus bridges, Dolmabahçe Palace, the Old City peninsula and a crossing to the Asian shore. Hotel transfers, safety briefing, flight certificate and photographs are included, and the price is €3,000 per person.

Istanbul is one of the few cities in the world where a 25-minute flight crosses two continents, and the only one where that flight passes Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman monuments in the same frame. From 300 metres the city's shape becomes obvious: a peninsula defended by water on three sides.

How the Flight Runs

Hotel pickup and transfer00:00 – 00:40

Private transfer from your hotel to the heliport on the European side. Allow 40 minutes from central Istanbul; the drive is part of the experience and your pilot's assistant briefs you on the way.

Safety briefing and boarding00:40 – 01:00

A short safety briefing covering seating, headsets, hand signals and photography rules. Weight and identification are confirmed here — both are required by civil aviation rules before any flight.

The flight01:00 – 01:25

The route lifts over the Bosphorus and runs south along the European shore: Dolmabahçe Palace, the two bridges, the Maiden's Tower, then the Historic Peninsula with Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı laid out beneath you. The return crosses to the Asian shore for the second half.

Landing and return transfer01:25 – 02:00

Landing, flight certificate and the photographs taken on board. Private transfer back to your hotel, or to a restaurant if you prefer.

About This Experience

Istanbul is one of the few cities in the world where a 25-minute flight crosses two continents, and the only one where that flight passes Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman monuments in the same frame. From 300 metres the city's shape becomes obvious: a peninsula defended by water on three sides, with the Golden Horn as its inner harbour.

The flight suits travellers marking an occasion, photographers, and anyone who has done the city on foot and wants to see how it fits together. It is weather-dependent — visibility below five kilometres grounds the flight, and that decision is made by the pilot on the morning, not by us.

When To Go

Flights run year-round but depend entirely on visibility: clear skies and a cloud base above 1,500 feet. April to June and September to October give the highest proportion of flyable mornings, with crisp air and long views across the Marmara Sea to the islands. July and August are reliable too, though afternoon haze softens the light — the morning slots are better. November to March is flyable more often than people expect, but wind and low cloud cancel perhaps one flight in four; we monitor the forecast and offer the next available slot or a full refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the actual flight?

Twenty-five minutes in the air on the standard route, which covers both bridges, the Old City and a crossing to the Asian shore. Longer routes over the Princes' Islands or the Black Sea mouth can be added at a supplement.

How many passengers fit?

Up to four passengers plus the pilot, depending on total weight. Every passenger's weight is required at booking, and identification is checked before boarding — this is a civil aviation requirement, not ours.

What happens if the weather cancels the flight?

The pilot makes the call on the morning. If visibility or wind is below the legal minimum, we offer the next available slot during your stay or a full refund. We do not fly in conditions we would not put our own family in.

Can I take photographs?

Yes, and the windows are designed for it. Cameras and phones must be on a strap; loose items are not permitted in the cabin. Reflections are reduced by the window coating, and your pilot will turn the aircraft on the best side for each landmark.

Is there a minimum age or health restriction?

Children of any age may fly with a guardian. Pregnancy beyond 28 weeks and recent surgery require a doctor's clearance. Tell us at booking if either applies and we advise before you pay.
