What You'll Experience
Hotel pickup in Istanbul and a 90-minute flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir. Your guide meets the group at arrivals and the day begins at Uçhisar Castle, the highest point in the region.
The monastery complex that gives the region its UNESCO listing: rock-cut churches with frescoes from the 10th to the 12th century, including the Dark Church, whose paintings survived because its window was blocked for centuries.
Avanos sits on the Kızılırmak and has made pottery from its red clay for centuries. Watch a workshop demonstration, then lunch at a local restaurant — paid separately, around €15 per person, with vegetarian options.
Paşabağ holds the best-preserved fairy chimneys, some with chapels carved into their bases. Devrent Valley has no buildings at all. Check-in at the cave hotel follows, with the evening free.
Sunrise balloon flight over the valleys, booked separately and subject to weather. Guests who skip it join the group at 09:00 for breakfast.
Kaymaklı is the deepest underground city open to visitors, with eight levels and ventilation shafts cut through the rock. Then the Love Valley and Pigeon Valley viewpoints, on the group schedule.
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Istanbul, then drop-off in central Istanbul. The exact time depends on the airline schedule for your dates.
Drop-off in central Istanbul: 20:00
Tour Overview
This is the same two-day Cappadocia route at a lower price, in a group capped at 12 guests. The guide is the same licensed guide, the cave hotel is the same standard, and both flights are included — what changes is the vehicle, which is shared, and the schedule, which is fixed.
The tour suits solo travellers, couples on a budget and anyone who is happy to follow a well-built itinerary rather than design one. Twelve is small enough that the guide learns everyone's names and no one waits long at a site entrance, which is why it is not a coach tour.

When To Travel
April to June and September to October are the best months: 15–26°C, clear skies and the highest chance of balloon flights launching. July and August are hot at 30–34°C, though the cave hotels stay cool and the group schedule already avoids the midday hours outdoors. Winter is cold at -2 to 8°C, and snow on the fairy chimneys is spectacular — but balloons are grounded more often and small group departures run less frequently between December and February.
Frequently Asked Questions
How big is the group?
A maximum of 12 guests, travelling in a minibus with a driver and a licensed guide. It is not a coach tour, and the guide is the same person for both days.
What is the difference between this and the private tour?
The vehicle is shared rather than private, the route follows a fixed schedule, and lunches are not included. Everything else — flights, cave hotel, guide, entrance fees — is the same. It costs less because the vehicle cost is split across the group.
Why are lunches not included?
Group lunches are the part of a tour where quality drops fastest. Guests buy their own at the restaurant we stop at, around 15 EUR per person, which keeps the price down and the food better.
Is the hot air balloon flight included?
No. It is booked separately at around 180 EUR per person and depends on weather. We book it for you and confirm the evening before; if it is cancelled you are refunded in full.
Can I join as a solo traveller?
Yes, and it is one of the most common bookings on this tour. Solo guests are paired in twin rooms; a single supplement applies if you want a room to yourself. Tell us at booking.
Are the flights included?
Yes. Round-trip domestic flights between Istanbul and Kayseri or Nevşehir are included, along with all airport transfers in both cities.
